Not the easiest subject to talk about.

Volution Group; (FAN.LSE: 310 -400gbx) has been a story I've had trouble keeping up with, angel or demon it's all the same to me, and a run at #pickapose to describe youth culture and having lived in Tokyo in the 'go-go' 80's without derogating exhibitionism was interesting...mesmerizing?? #shimuraken

The #millennials were the first to harness the culture of branding by trend, individual gain for group worth, essentially corporatism, and FAN seems to be the corporate extension of the period in time. The 'all-inclusive exclusive culture' developed by the actors such as Seth Rogen, and Michael Cera, as an attempt at a modern representation has helped a lot of people understand it better. 'This is the End' being their interpretation of cultural-religious barriers they themselves and their 'followers' are bound to meet. And I like 'smart phones' ..

What I learnt from Instagram

While knocking around on Instagram trying to support #smallbusiness', and #fashion, in what then were small business investment opportunities on behalf of DeVere Consultancy, I was at first worried, and then I felt rude for avoiding the #hottopic, so became ashamed,

The iconoclast argument being either that there should be no shame in expressing appearance, or that the generational values are slipping and the greedy are trying to exploit a power of form.

The argument was circular, not from the small businesses, ironic, right?!

The iconoclasts are the small business!

I worked for myself between 2008-2011 as a portfolio manager, eventually balancing around $5 million without commission nor pay, segregated accounts. The economy faltered, I got lucky.

The 'recovery fund', or 'does the emperor have shorts on?' fund, was rewarding but was a tough patch of earth. I left in 2011, once Goldman Sachs agreed to begin buying toxic ABSs (for people unfamiliar with the acronym, 'asset backed securities'), I had done all I could.

The generational gap in wealth widened by the Financial Crisis gave rise to the term Generation Z,X, whatever, I prefer 'X'; too many Zombie movies in the years to come, during which there were bartenders with three mortgages, ... so, 'X'! Pinterest 2021 June

Through the hardship, and the current aftermath of 'Challenging'*; the 'modified' version of the most prevalent and contagious disease on the planet, there are green shoots appearing...

Non-banker monies (Crypto)*, space exploration (SpaceX), relatively fewer major wars (Ukraine)*, Elon Musk wearing a superman costume, #blacklivesmatter, ecological movements that don't involve terrorism, government led initiatives in society and environment, Hitachi's promised 'Cure for Cancer', 'Kate Blanchett (in the unabridged version of 'Burmese days'), Daisy Ridley in 'The Last Jedi', LGBTA, among other civil rights movements. Green shoots are appearing.

Fingers Crossed making friends along the way

Either way, the collage (Instagram) was a daily stomachache with no reward, but I hope in the future will convey a message of the more testing times. In the last two years I've learnt about how the other half lives, comparatively few represented where I've been, done, and lives, I'd recommend zero expectations, and just take the time to absorb, a thinking pad, a time to reflect.

I even felt amorous! A feeling I haven't felt in a very long time.

Since that, I even had time to have a bit of a 'crush', the trick is not to give off a 'stalker vibe', cute, right??, NO! Another one of the idiosyncrasies of the internet, 'reverse wandering eye syndrome', most of the first days of discovering Instagram, from my time at college, even from childhood I knew polyamorous was a questionable practice. But, I'm grateful that most of the people on IG don't actually disclose their real identity, and Volution could be the safety net, for the unsuccessful and successful alike.

Anyway, back to my crush, which I'm almost certain is the name of a dating site, in trying to better understand luxury as a very junior exec, I had the chance to better understand my own tastes with regards to almost all things. It felt a bit creepy in a one-way mirror sense but once you get over the reflexology ... it's rewarding. And, a moment to reflect, a pause for breath.

Thankfully, I took as a token reward; recommendations from people with whom to commune, important people, celebrities, not so important people, your own. For a bachelor, as long as you don't get carried away .. pretty useful. #colinpowell ***

..and to some it may even be a lifeboat,

A little on Art

I was surprised to find that a 'Shaw', last name, was made chief curator for London in 2020, and my name is similarly 'Shaw', so in spite of not having a founded background (Diploma/Degree) in Art history, in spite of all the books on the subject I've read along the way, I needed a theme that was non-monetary.

You can imagine, readership was exclusive, too preachy, but that was the industry being represented, Museums and Finance, FinTech to be precise, and Investment Banking. #Stomachache.

Thankfully, #pickapose was a campaign to reduce the effects of 'lockdown' and to endorse high art- I even like to think I have a few 'friends' in the industry. Without name dropping, or, returning from what feels like a lifetime of a jeans and t-shirt only diet in fashion, I found the time for a peek into the world of #highfashion.

I've never lightly talked about the industry, for fear of my mother, and in spite of the occasional recognition of a sad, occasionally correct, stereotype, that to me may only be humor (Tina Fey!) #30rock ... I know now,

So, after realizing that I wasn't .. 'A Fan', 'in the strictest legal definition' #archer #snl, I shopped around thinking would 'Only Fans' be the only way for my daughter, if I had one, to gain independence,

I'd hope most of it is a digital aberration, and it probably is, preference being to the real #fashionistas, and contrariwise to the generational schism of seeing art as a social caste taboo.
